How To Start a New Fitness Routine For Beginners

You may be unsure about where to even start when it comes to working out and that’s okay! Everything takes time, practice, and some dedication. To help you, we’ve put together a few suggestions to set you up for success when starting a new fitness routine.

Set Your Fitness Goals

Setting a goal gives you a purpose for doing something. This can be anywhere from a weight loss goal to just feeling better mentally. Asking yourself questions about what you want to achieve.

  • What is making you want to exercise?
  • What results are you wanting to see?
  • What are your health and fitness priorites?

Something else to look at is how active you are now. You don’t want to throw your body into shock from no physical activity to working out 7 days a week. Starting out light and slowly progressing will be better for your mental and physical health. 

Find a Time That Works With You

Having a good work-life balance is key when it comes to feeling good about yourself and being in control of your life and career. Sometimes finding an equilibrium between these two can be hard. One of the main reasons people say they can’t work out is they have no time. Finding a time slot in a crazy busy schedule is hard but not impossible. Start light and maybe plan for two days that week that you are gonna workout. You may be a morning person and have to wake up early for work anyways. One day try and wake up 30 minutes or an hour earlier and get a quick workout in and see how that fits in with your schedule. On the flip side, maybe you don’t like mornings and prefer being up late. Take some time after work to have to yourself and get in a little post-work workout! 

Consider Working Out With a Personal Trainer

Sometimes getting on a set schedule for working out on your own can be hard to commit to. Working with a personal trainer can be very beneficial in many ways.

  • Tracking goals and progress
  • Motivation
  • Keeping you challenged
